The college was historically billed for its surface water charges within Band F (15,000-35,000 m2). PEM Ltd. noticed that the college’s area was very close to being below 15,000 m2 and could be re-banded to the lower Band E if it could provide evidence for this, therefore reducing its costs. PEM Ltd. undertook a full site survey, mapping out the surface water drainage infrastructure. This involved lifting manhole covers, performing dye tests and studying site topography. A full application for re-banding was submitted to Yorkshire Water to enable The College to receive lower charges. After much negotiation, the supplier agreed that the site should be within Band E.
