Hull College has a large campus in the centre of Hull with eight main buildings. Managing all of these sites with a small estates team is challenging. Being a local business to Hull College, PEM were able to assist the college with reducing their energy consumption and carbon emissions through our professional services.
Hull College acknowledged the need for a Carbon Management Plan in order to set clear tasks on how to achieve their net zero target. PEM analysed the consumption at the college using invoices, HH data, meter readings and available capacity assessments. We then conducted a series of audits on all of the eight buildings within the scope, including night time audits at the buildings with the highest energy base loads to be able to summarise our findings within the CMP.
With the completion of the CMP and presenting our findings to Hull College, staff are now confident in understanding what implementations will be most beneficial to the college both financially (due to educational budgeting) and environmentally. Our zero/low cost recommendations allow the college to begin with implementations instantaneously along with our long term suggestions for reaching net zero. We will continue to liaise with the college to support the next steps to an exciting, ambitious target.
Carbon Management Plan
PEM assisted Hull College with reaching their aspiration to be net zero by 2040. This consisted of producing a Carbon Management Plan and conducting audits to discover energy saving opportunities.
Delivering a net zero carbon workshop to SMEs
PEM delivered a presentation to local North East Lincolnshire SMEs about why energy consumption should be reduced and the steps or options that can be taken to reach net zero.
