SME wanting to reduce their energy use to reduce the overall carbon footprint whilst reducing electricity and gas costs. PEM carried out an energy audit for Thyme and Tide and produced a report to recommend energy reduction opportunities that could be implemented.
The primary reason for high energy use (25%) was the location of refrigeration and freezing utilities being placed in the room with the main heat sources. The warmer the kitchen the harder the units have to work and the more energy they consume. We suggested the number of units were rationalised and defunct units switched off and a dedicated cold store should be created.
Implementation of some of our recommendations ensured they remained competitive and recognisable in the food and drink industry.
E-Factor Phase 1 & 2 contract carbon savings
Upon completion of the phase 1 & 2 contracts with E-Factor, we calculated the carbon savings we will have created if our energy conservation measures that we recommended are implemented.
